By the mid 1990’s I had been training elite athletes professionally for a decade. I felt I was close to determining the right mix of training variables to get the result I was after – size, strength and leanness.  What I had was a unique situation.  I had exposure to a large group of athletes year in year out.  I was in complete control of their training and was with them every training session, all year round, all around the world.

After a year, I could look back and then say – ‘that was a great result, but what if I was to tweak the program this way?’…and I did just that, and watched, monitored and assessed over the next year.  And what did I do at the end of that year?  I thought ‘that was a great result, but what if I was to tweak the program this way?’…and I did just that, and watched, monitored and assessed over the next year…and so on.

Using this approach, by the late 1990’s I have refined an incredible training program that could give so much in so little time,  that could produces some absolutely mind-blowing results for the athlete:

·         Despite starting with ridiculously light weight, we would end up after 12 weeks with PBs in lifts...

  • Dramatic increases in the muscle mass, provided of course the rest of their training and their nutritional strategy supported this...
  • Maintenance or lowering of body fat, even in the absence of extensive aerobic activity or dieting…
  • An amazing increase in athletic ability – expressed verbally by the athlete and supported by performance in competition...
  • Reduced exposure to injury through an improvement in muscle balance...
